A goal in each half gave Arsenal 3 more points in what may well be their vain pursuit of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League (PL) in this latest Premier London Derby (PLDs) match. The first came from Mikel Merino again, and the second came from Bukayo Saka making a welcome return after 100 days out with a hamstring injury. The Gunners did however lose defender Gabriel Magalhaes to injury early on. Fulham’s late goal again involved substitute Ryan Sessegnon, this time with an assist.

Fulham had come into this PLDs match on the back of a 0-3 home defeat in the F A Cup Quarter-final v Crystal Palace. This was a confident win by The Eagles and a comprehensive defeat for The Cottagers. Eberechi Eze celebrated his first England International goal with the opener and an assist for the second.50 Fernandez

                                                       Chelsea (0) 1 v 0 (0) Tottenham Hotspur

 50 Fernandez, assist Palmer

Played Thursday 03 April 2025 at Stamford Bridge, Referee Craig Pawson.

Three goals scored but only one, Chelsea’s first, allowed following VAR intervention: first for offside in Chelsea’s “second”; and then for a foul in the build up to Pape Sarr’s wonder strike for what would have been Spurs “equalizer”. Not quite the 2016 “Battle of Stamford Bridge” but The Blues had 5 players booked for the fifth time this season, and Spurs had 5 also. It all depends on the UEFA Europa League now for Ange Postecoglou.

Next up it’s Brentford v Chelsea on Sunday 06 April 2025.  The Blues won this one 0-1 when first played in 2021-22 season, but there have been 0-0 and 2-2 draws since. Have Chelsea got the momentum going for another 3 points or will The Bees hold them?

Until next time, “Keep Safe” and enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
