A full house at Craven Cottage saw Arsenal take the 3 points to stay top of the Premier League (PL). Fulham had some early attacking dominance but by the end had failed to register a shot on goal at all thanks to The Gunners resolute defending. Leandro Trossard’s goal, from a corner headed on to him, made him their 10th individual scorer this season. There might have been more goals, but it was a satisfying win for Arsenal.

                                   West Ham United (0) 0 v 2 (1) Brentford

                                                                                         43 Thiago, assist Schade

                                                                                         90+4 Jensen, assist Lewis-Potter

Yellows: no one                                                        Henderson      Referee: Andy Madley

Played Monday 20 October 2025 at The London Stadium, attendance 62,452.

This was Brentford’s first away win of the season, and the first time West Ham United have started any season with 4 straight home defeats, this season 3 against fellow Premier London Derbies (PLDs) Clubs. The Bees had 15 goal attempts in the first half but only scored once. Their second came late on when Matts Jensen who came on in he 90th minute for Jordan Henderson, fired home. Henderson’s was the only Yellow Card of the match so at least The Hammers are not trying to kick their way out of trouble. They have a mountain to climb after this error strewn display in front of an emptying stadium.

In the UEFA Campions League Arsenal beat Atletico Madrid 4-0 with at last two goals by Viktor Gyokeres; Chelsea humbled Ajax Amsterdam 5-1; and Tottenham Hotspur ended a 125-match run without a 0-0 draw v A S Monaco. In the UEFA Conference League Crystal Palace will be very disappointed in their 0-1 defeat by AEK Larnaca of Cyprus in their first major European Competition home game. Things won’t get any easier when they go to The Emirates v Arsenal in the next PLDs match on Sunday 26 October. This season is going to be unrelentingly tough for all our PLDs Clubs.

Until next time, enjoy your football, Andrew at premierlondonderbies.com
