Arsenal won this tense, and at times techy – Chelsea had 5 players booked – encounter to stay top of the Premier League (PL) and get one win back on their closest Premier London Derbies (PLDs) rivals. The Blues were lacklustre and their play disjointed, and the winning margin should have been greater in this, the Gunners’ Head Coach, Mikel Arteta’s 150th match in charge. For defender Gabriel, who volleyed in Bukayo Saka’s corner from very close range this was his 10th Club goal, all from corners.

West Ham United lost their run of 6 home PL games without defeat in added time after striker Michail Antonio repeated a mistake of 5 seasons ago. He chipped the ball gently into the arms of Crystal Palace goalkeeper Vincente Guaita, when well placed to assist a home winner, who quickly set up the final Eagles’ attack. The ball came swiftly to Wilfried Zaha, who had scored their first, to cross for Michael Olise to shoot home an away winner. The Hammers had opened the scoring through Said Benrahma in his 100th game for the Club, but the Eagles already had the measure of the home side in front of the PL’s biggest crowd of the day. The win pushed them up to 10th, and The Hammers down to15th, in the PL.
There are no PLDs matches in the last round of the PL this weekend before the FIFA World Cup begins on 18 November 2022 in Qatar, indeed none until Boxing Day 2022 when we have three. We shall be back next week with a round-up of the PL and PLDs season so far.
Until then, “Keep Safe” and enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
