“Bees, Hammers and Gunners all win.”

Here are the details of last weekend’s Premier London Derbies (PLDs) matches with away wins for Brentford and Arsenal, and a well earned home win for West Ham United.

                                       Fulham (0) 0 v 3 (1) Brentford

                                                                             44 Wissa

                                                                              68 Mbeumo (pen)

                                                                             90+2 Mbeumo, assist Ajer

Yellows: Read, Palhina, Ream (Red)                Hickey, Henry             Referee: D Bond.

Played Saturday 19 August 2023 at Craven Cottage, attendance 24,236.

Fulham, on the day top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic (11 goals in 206 appearances) left for the money-pots of Arabia, Yoane Wissa and Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford showed them how it is done. The Cottagers’ misery was compounded by the dismissal of their Captain Tim Ream.

             West Ham United (1) 3 v 1 (1) Chelsea

 7 Aguerd                                                                  28 Chukwuemeka

53 Antonio

90+5 Paqueta (pen.)

Yellows: Paqueta, Emerson, Aguerd (Red)         Disasi, Jackson, Chukwuemeka

Played Sunday 20 August 2023 at The London Stadium.    Referee John Brooks.

Even with 76% possession and against 10 men Chelsea could not get a win to start to repay their extravagant spending. £115 million man Moises Caicedo gave away the penalty which sealed the deserved Hammers win for whom James Ward-Prowse is looking a good buy.

                          Crystal Palace (0) 0 v 1 (0) Arsenal

                                                                                54 Odegaard (pen.)

Yellows:                                                                  67 Tomiyasu (Red for 2 Yellows)

Played Monday 21 August 2023 at Selhurst Park.

This match made it a hat-trick of Red cards and provided the most controversy. Arsenal left full back Takehiro Tomiyasu was first booked for time wasting over a throw-in, and then for a foul 50 yards from any danger area, leading to the Red card. By then The Gunners had the lead with a penalty, and despite Crystal Palacepressure saw the game out.

On Saturday 26 August it is Arsenal v Fulham and Brentford v Crystal Palace. Past form and present momentum favour Arsenal and both Bees v Eagles PLDs matches have been draws.

Until next time enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
