Brentford started their fourth season in the English Premier League (PL) with a 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in which they scored all 3 goals, albeit one being an own goal. Once again local hero Ivan Toney did not play, being the subject of transfer speculation perhaps away from the PL to Saudi Arabian Professional League. Last season’s successful Bees’ striker pairing of Bryan Mbuemo and Yoane Wissa made up for the absence scoring and making chances.

The Eagles have lost one bright star Michel Olise to Bundesliga’s Bayern Munich, leaving Eberechi Eze to strut the stage. This he did his free kick “goal” being disallowed for offside by Professional Game Match Officials League (PGMOL) newcomer Referee Sam Barrott who blew before the ball crossed the line. Apology given and accepted.

The next Premier London Derbies (PLDs) match is Crystal Palace v West Ham United. There are usually goals in this match with 7 in each of the last two. The Hammers have 3 away wins matching The Eagles 3 homes, and there have been 2 draws in the last 8. West Ham will want to make up for their opening day 1-2 home defeat v Aston Villa, but will The Eagles start to fly? We shall see what the day brings so early in the season.

Until next time, enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
