“Brentford v Chelsea bore-draw.”

Played Sunday 6 April 2025 at The Gtech Community Stadium, attendance 17,183.

This was always likely to be a draw with Brentford without a home win in 7 matches and Chelsea an away win Iin 8! The Blues started with a deliberately weakened line-up being less than 72 hours from their previous Premier League (PL) match, a win against Spurs, to add to the “bore-draw” first half. Both teams came alive in the second half and spurned chances. For The Bees it was in the last 10 minutes but to no avail.

Chelsea may still be in 4th place in the PL but they are coming under increasing pressure from Clubs above and around them. In the UEFA Conference League they are however on course for a Semi-final place after their 0-3 away win in the first leg of the Quarter-final v Legia Warsaw. The North London PLDs Clubs had mixed fortunes in their UEFA Quarter-final ties. For Arsenal it was a resounding 3-0 win over Real Madrid thanks to two free kicks by Declan Rice. It’s not all over yet for the Holders who think they own this Cup and will be out to prove it at the Santiago Bernabeu on 16 April. Tottenham Hotspur held Eintracht Frankfurt, 3rd in the Bundesliga, to a 1-1 draw so next week’s second leg remains vital to their season and several personnel’s futures.

The next Premier London Derbies (PLDs) match is Arsenal v Brentford on Saturday 12 April 2025. Arsenal, who played all their PLDs away matches before any home ones this season, have won this one twice, with a score draw. They look likely to win again unless they have one eye on that UEFA Champions League return match on 16 April 2025.

Until next time, “Keep Safe” and enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
