Fulham moved back into the top half of the Premier League (PL) table with a resounding 5-0 win over West Ham United in the latest Premier London Derbies (PLDs) match. This was the same score as their mid-week win over Nottingham Forest , and made it 3 PL wins in a row for Fulham for the first time since 2012. It was a real team effort with 5 different goal scorers, and 4 other outfield players assisting. Have The Cottagers found a way to compensate for the loss of Aleksandar Mitrovic at last?
For their part West Ham United looked tired and were slow to the ball. This was their third PLDs match in a row from which they have gained 4 points. They are 3 points and 1 place above Fulham and are still in the UEFA Europa League and are EFL Cup quarter finalists, but their fans expect more. More in the way of style, but their squad size and injuries dictates to Manager David Moyes’ pragmatic approach, which is nevertheless successful.
There are no PLDs matches this coming weekend nor indeed until Wednesday 27 December 2023 when it will be Chelsea v Crystal Palace but more of that next time.
Until next time, “Keep Safe” and enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
