Chelsea outplayed West Ham United to make it three home defeats in a row at the start of this Premier League (PL) season. The Blues, and especially their goal scorers , were too quick and too skilful. The Hammers were lacking in style and substance, and their one-to-one high press system just did not work. The boos which marked the end of last season soon rang out around The London Stadium. Back to the training ground.
Tottenham Hotspur (2) 3 v 1 (1) Brentford
8 Solanke 1 Mbeumo, assist Lewis-Potter
28 Johnson, assist Son
85 Maddison, assist Son
Yellows: Maddison, Bissouma, van de Ven Ajer
Played Saturday 21 September 2024 at The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, att. 61,246.
Brentford scored within the first minute for the second week running. Last week it was versus Manchester City who were the last PL Club to do this in January-February 2019 through Sergio Aguero. Tottenham Hotspur for once did not buckle, were soon level, and by half-time were leading. James Maddison capped a magical display with a late goal, chipping home a long through ball from his Captain Son Heung-min.
Both losing Clubs will have a chance to get points when it’s Brentford v West Ham United on Saturday 28 September 2024. All 3 Matches have been home wins since Brentford came up to the Pl in season 2021-22. Another first minute goal would be history for The Bees and more pressure for The Hammers’ Coach Julen Lopetegui.
Until next time, “Keep Safe” and enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
