Crystal Palace registered their first win of the Premier League (PL) season in this latest Premier London Derbies (PLDs) match. The winning and only goal was well taken by Jean-Philippe Mateta assisted by the ever-clever Eberechi Eze. It came from a typical Spurs error by passing the ball clumsily across their own penalty area. This was Spurs at their worst – passes went astray, one-on-ones lost, and chances missed. This in a week when PL statistics showed both Clubs were among the worst for converting “big chances” into goals. Both convert only 29% but Spurs create 31 and The Eagles 14.

They were both in action in the mid-week round of the EFL/Carabao Cup with success. Crystal Palace had an impressive 1-2 away win at Aston Villa with goals from Eze and Daichi Kamada. Tottenham Hotspur had an equally important win 2-1 v Manchester City, but picked up significant injuries to goal-scorer Timo Werner and defender Micky van de Ven. These wins set up a London Derby quarter final Arsenal v Crystal Palace, and Spurs v the other Manchester (United) who may well have a new Head Coach.

The next PLDs match will be the West London Derby Fulham v Brentford on Monday 4 November. This fixture has only been played twice being 0-3 to The Bees last season, and 3-2 to The Cottagers in 2022-23 season. Fulham are 10th with 12 points and Brentford 9th with 13 thanks to their home form. It will be keenly fought.

Until next time, “Keep Safe” and enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
