“PLDs Clubs final records for 2023-24 season.”

The Premier League (PL) 2023-24 season finished on Sunday 19 May 2024. Manchester City were PL Champions for the fourth consecutive time. While we congratulate them, their Head Coach who is simply the best, and players, there are unresolved questions about how it was all financed. Premier London Derbies (PLDs) Club Arsenal were runners-up in the PL and again headed the PLDs mini-league. Congratulations to them too, but they will need another “Invincibles” season to return the PL title to London.

Club                                    PL               Won  Drawn  Lost   Goal Difference  Points

 Arsenal                         (2/89)               7      3        2               +17                24

Chelsea                        (6/63)                7      2        3                 +7                23

Fulham                          (13/47)             4      4        4                 +3               16

Tottenham Hotspur (5/66)               4      3        5                 -4                15

West Ham United     (9/52)                4      2        6                 -15              14

Brentford                      (16/39)              3      4        5                 -1                 13

Crystal Palace            (10/49)             2      4        6                -7                 10

Chelsea finished the PL season strongly to be 6th and got 23 of their 63 points in PLDs matches. All the other PLDs Clubs were “also-rans” but somehow Tottenham Hotspur added 51 PL points to their 15 PLDs points to finish 5th in the PL with a Europa League place for 2024-25. They have lost to 5 of the top 7 Clubs in their last 7 PL matches!

Fulham had one more draw than Spurs in the PLDS matches but finished weakly in the PL in 13th with 47 points. So too did West Ham United finishing 9th with 52 points and out of Europe, and Brentford who slid down to 16th with only 39 points. Crystal Palace were bottom of the PLDs table above but climbed up to 10th place in the PL, and in Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze have two new stars whom they must keep to progress.

We finish this season saying good-bye to two distinguished football men in Roy Hodgson and David Moyes. Fans may come to rue the loss of their pragmatism and integrity when both qualities are so much needed in our sport going forward.

Until next season thank you for following this Blog, Andrew and Matt at PLDs.
