“The denouement of another Spurs Head Coach.”

Whether they are called Head Coaches or Managers they do not last long at Tottenham Hotspur. The latest home defeat on Tuesday 10 February 2026 1-2 v Newcastle United was the last straw for those who control the Club – whoever they are. Subsequently we heard of another major injury to a Spurs player. This time 21-year-old Frenchman Wilson Odobert has torn an anterior cruciate ligament going for the ball.

Injuries have been one factor in Thomas Frank’s denouement. At times this season it has looked like which 11, and not suspended, players do I have and where shall I play them? There has been more to it than that with the feeling that some players are underperforming, were overvalued and letting the Head Coach down. There has been considerable unrest in the camp with fiery Captain Cristian Romero voicing publicly his concerns about lack of investment in players particularly in this January transfer window when reinforcements were needed. The crowd has become toxic and only their booing at the final whistle ever reached the intensity of the victorious travelling Toon

Whoever comes next after Thomas Frank -a good man and good coach- will have a baptism of fire with the North London Derby Spurs v Arsenal on Sunday 22 February 2026. Whoever is in the technical area and hot seat might as well write this one off and start with a clean slate for the last 11 Premier League matches of this troubled season with survival and some honour the only aim. Trouble is the slate will never be clean for the next Head Coach at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club PLC.

Until next time “Keep Safe” and enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
