“To the Victors the Spoils.”

The 2024-25 Premier League (PL) season is over and with it our Premier London Derbies (PLDs) competition. Let’s start with PLDs to see who won what?

Club.                              (PL)          Won   Drawn   Lost       Goal Diff.        PLDs points

Arsenal                        (2/74)           7       4       1             +12                       25

Tottenham Hotspur  (17/38)          3       2       7             -2                          11

Congratulations to Arsenal who once again topped the PLDs mini-table with only one defeat this season. They will however be disappointed that they did not mount a stronger PL Championship challenge and lost their UEFA Champions League Semi-final. Chelsea came close behind in second place, and Fulham in a creditable third with a positive goal difference.

There were a total of 115 goals scored in the 72 PLDs matches and top scorer was Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford with 7, of which only 1 was a penalty. Harry Wilson, Fulham’s “super-sub” scored 5, as did Jean-Phillipe Mateta (Fulham) with 1 penalty, and Cole Palmer (Chelsea) with 2 penalties. Three players scored 4 and eight players scored 3 goals.

West Ham United, with 25 Yellow cards and 2 Reds (of which 1 was straight) had a poor disciplinary record. One player had 4 Yellows and two players three each. The worst individual was Marc Cucurella of Chelsea, and the Samson-like hair, with 4 Yellows and 2 together earning a Red card.

PLDs Clubs produced three Cup Competition Winners. Congratulations first and foremost to all at Crystal Palace for their historic FA Cup Final win. A long time coming but thoroughly deserved. Congratulations too to Tottenham Hotspur who somehow capped an embarrassingly poor PL and PLDs season with victory in the UEFA Europa League Cup Final over a lame Manchester United. Congratulations also to Chelsea who already have a UEFA Champions League place thanks to their PL position but won the UEFA Europa Conference League on Wednesday 28 May 2025 with a convincing 4-1 win over Spain’s Real Betis in Wroclaw Poland.

What will next season bring to all our Clubs? Until then best wishes, Andrew at PLDs.
