Brentford deservedly won this Premier London Derbies (PLDs) opener slicing through a sloppy Tottenham Hotspur defence at will to score three times and hit the post with a penalty. Spurs will say they did not yet have their big signings all there or ready. Brentford came to this match with a team, culture and system still working in the way Thomas Frank developed but led now by Keith Andrews. Vindication is sometimes the best form of revenge for injustices.

This was a rousing West London derby beside the Thames at the start of the Premier League (PL) season. It was a managerial battle of the debutant Spanish Head Coaches Xabi Alonso of Chelsea and Alvaro Arbeloa of Fulham – but both formerly in charge of Real Madrid and something to prove. It was won by the English cool of Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers with all eyes on how Chelsea have been spending their money again. Fulham gave as good as they got, shaking off the first minute opener to add to the entertainment and give optimism for their season.
There are no PLDs matches this weekend, but enjoy your football wherever you play.
