Just as one swallow does not make a Summer so one win may not make a football season, but for Tottenham Hotspur this rare win at The Bridge may just restart it. Apart from brief periods at the end of the first half and beginning of the second, Spurs well known weak points, Chelsea weren’t really in it. Spurs had 68.9% possession and for once gained from a set piece calamity when Blues ‘keeper Mike Penders punched a corner kick into his own net. Mathys Tel’s stunning 60-yard run and shot sealed it for Spurs. The only place Chelsea outscored them was in Yellow Cards (4v3) in which Cole Palmer’s two gave him a Red Card. A Battle of Stamford Bridge won by the Invaders.

Fulham also had a Premier League (PL) win 0-1 v Coventry City to take them up to 15th with 8 points. Crystal Palace lost 0-2 v Newcastle United at home dropping them into perilous 17th from their relative comfort. The two met at Craven Cottage in the EFL/Carabao Cup on Wednesday 28 October and there may be some cheer in the 0-1 Eagles’ win which puts them in the Quarter-finals v Sunderland at home.

The next Premier London Derbies (PLDs) match brings two of the featured three together when it is Tottenham Hotspur v Crystal Palace on Saturday 31 October 2026. There have been 5 home and 3 away wins in the last 8 meetings. Three points are vital for both Clubs, but will this be a second home win, and third PL win, in a row for Spurs?

Until next time, enjoy your football, Andrew at premierlondonderbies.com .
