Chelsea 2 (Abraham 52, Pulisic 79) v Crystal Palace 0, played Saturday 9 November 2019 at Stamford Bridge, attendance 40,525.
Chelsea’s winning run, now 6 in a row in the F.A. Premier League (F.A.P.L.), continued as they eased past Crystal Palace with two second half goals in the latest Premier London derbies (PLDs) match. Tammy Abraham’s 52nd minute goal was his 10th of the F.A.P.L. season, and Christian Pulisic confirmed his impressive form with a 79th minute header. No happy return to the Bridge for Gary Cahill although he did block a goal-bound effort by Willian right on half time. This was Roy Hodgson’s 300th F.A.P.L. game as a manager, a good achievement, but a long way behind Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger on 828, and Harry Redknapp’s 693 with Spurs, West Ham United etc.. Perhaps Frank Lampard, who has won the F.A. P.L’sManager of the Month for the first time with Chelsea’s 3 straight wins in October, will get somewhere near those records, unless “the Boss” has other ideas?
No PLDs match this weekend, it being the third International Break of the season already, but it really is the first Women’s Super League (W.S.L.) North London derby on Sunday 17 November at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. More on that next week.
Until next time, enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
