There are no Premier London Derbies (PLDs) this weekend. In our first blog posted we introduced PLDs with a mini-league table of how our 6 teams did in their 10 games against one another in the 2018-2019 season. This week we consider how each team did in the other 28 games they played in the F A Premier League (F.A.P.L.) against non-London teams, including Watford. The table of “PLDs teams versus the Rest” of the F.A.P.L. is as follows:
| Team | won | drawn | lost | G D | Pts. | (FA PL Pts./Position) |
| Arsenal | 16 | 5 | 7 | +12 | 53 | (70/5th) |
| Tottenham | 17 | 1 | 10 | +14 | 52 | (71/4th) |
| Chelsea | 14 | 8 | 6 | +18 | 50 | (72/3rd) |
| Crystal Palace | 11 | 5 | 12 | nil | 38 | (49/12th) |
| West Ham Utd | 10 | 5 | 13 | -5 | 35 | (52/10th) |
| Fulham | 7 | 5 | 16 | -26 | 26 | (26/19R) |
Arsenal come out top with 53 of their 70 F A Premier League points taken from non-PLDs teams. Chelsea, who were the best placed of the PLDs teams in the big league drop to third in this table since 7 of their overall 21 F A Premier League wins were against our PLDs teams and they had 8 draws. Tottenham, although they had the most wins (17) and scored the most goals (52), were let down by their usual defensive frailties. But if you had gone over 100 consecutive games in all competitions without sharing a 0-0 draw what do you expect? Not to lose to lowly Colchester United on penalties! Crystal Palace however with their strong away record jumped above West Ham, who had a negative goal difference (GD), reversing their final F A Premier League positions. And what to say about Fulham except “come back soon”, but at present they are mid-tale in the E.F.L. Championship.
Interesting reading and food for thought ahead of West Ham against Crystal Palace which is our next Premier London Derbies (PLDs) match on 5 October 2019.
Until then, enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
