There were no Premier London derbies last weekend as it was the September International break, with England at home to Bulgaria and Kosovo. Not many London derby players were involved except Harry Kane and Dann\ Rose of Tottenham, and young new comers Declan Rice of West Ham and Mason Mount from Chelsea. The England captain Kane now has 26 England goals in 41 games, overtaking West Ham’s World Cup winning Sir Geoff Hurst (24 in 49) and closing on Chelsea’s Frank Lampard’s remarkable 29 goals in 23 games.
On Saturday 14 September it’s Tottenham v Crystal Palace, a fixture which Spurs have won for the last 3 seasons. On 3 April 2019 it was Spurs’ first F A Premier League game at their long awaited Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ( aka the new White Hart Lane) with Heung-Min Son being the first scorer in a 2 – 0 win, as he was in the 2017-2018 season’s 1 – 0 win. Victor Wanyama was the unlikely scorer in 2016-2017’s repeat result. But with an away win at Man Utd for the Eagles already, and Spurs indifferent start in August who knows what we might see.
There is another weekend game involving north London’s Arsenal who travel to Watford outside the M25 circle, but without Fulham this season why not let Watford join the London derbies league? Watford have already lost to West Ham (1 -3) at Vicarage Road, but have Quique Sanchez Flores back to maybe change their system and luck. What do you think?
