First of all an apology. I mis-informed you last week by saying that the first Barclays F.A. Women’s Super League (W.S.L.) North London derby between Tottenham Women and Arsenal Women was last weekend. It was not but will be on Sunday 17 November at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A first for the stadium too.
The Watford v Chelsea F.A. Premier League match, PLDs or not, resulted in the expected Chelsea win, which was their 5th in a row. A match which Chelsea seemed to have comfortably won, after goals by Tammy Abrahams in the 5th, and the rising American Pulisic in the 55th, ended with some drama. In the 80th minute a penalty was awarded to Watfordwhen V.A.R. showed that Jorginho had tripped Gerard Deulofeu, who converted from the spot. Then the last Watford attack of the game saw Chelsea keeper Kepa Arrizabalaga saving a goal-bound header from his opposite number Ben Foster!
This weekend Chelsea are back in action again, this time in a proper F.A. Premier League London derby (PLDs). It is Chelsea’s first of the season when they entertain Crystal Palace who are away again to a fellow London club. In fact Palace will have played all 4 of their away PLDs in their first 12 games of the season. Is that a record, and how does the F.A.’s fixture computer do it?
Until next week, enjoy your football, Andrew at PLDs.
